Investigation into claims made by Phil Boswell MP concluded

The Compliance Officer for the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority has today published a Closure Report relating to his investigation into claims made under the MPs’ Scheme of Business Costs and Expenses (‘the Scheme’) by Mr Phil Boswell MP.

The investigation was opened on 24 February 2016 following a complaint from a member of the public regarding claims made under the Scheme by the MP for Office Costs Expenditure. On 12 May 2016, a Statement of Provisional Findings was published, requiring Mr Boswell to repay £555.00.

Both Mr Boswell and IPSA were given a further opportunity to make representations to the Compliance Officer in respect of the provisional findings. Neither party chose to make further representations.

Mr Boswell has repaid the amount of £555.00 in full.

No further action is required by Mr Boswell or the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority and the investigation is now closed.

The Compliance Officer for IPSA is an independent office holder established as a separate public authority from IPSA under the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009, as amended by the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010. He is responsible for investigating complaints regarding MPs' business costs and expenses paid to MPs by the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority ('IPSA').
